Vinotopia Sustainability Policy
As a small independent business we believe we have a duty and the capability to help curb the effects of climate change, protect our producers' vineyards, champion small producers and independents and ensure the sustainability of the global wine industry.
Every year, we constantly seek to improve our environmental impact, refine our practices and ensure that we remain restless in our pursuit for sustainability.
Whether this be eliminating waste in our offices and warehouse, we recycle all packaging, bottles and use Biodegradable packaging in all of our shipping materials.
Improving sustainability in our supply chain (with electric vehicles forming part of our fleet and we are looking to invest in Electric vehicles for all of our local deliveries by 2026.)
We are installing solar energy panels to our warehouse and offices, we always look ahead to implement more sustainable, business solutions that benefit the planet, and would also like to install a wind turbine subject to planning permission.
Outside of our shop we have created a growing patch with wildflowers, vegetables and wildlife area.
Vinotopia deliver wine locally and our logistics team are careful to plan our journeys to limit unnecessary miles which helps reduce fuel costs but also helps to reduce our carbon footprint.
We are finding that our suppliers are also moving towards producing more sustainable and organic methods to produce wines, we import wines from small independent growers, using agents that specialise in Vegan, organic and biodynamic production methods. Several of the suppliers and producers that we use are B Corp registered and we are finding that our customers are also looking to purchase more sustainable wines, spirits and beers. We are working with other smaller local business’s to encourage customers to shop and support local and independent business’s and refer business locally.
By importing wine in larger quantities by the pallet we are reducing the need for multiple journeys and also allows us to buy wines at a better price which has an economic as well as an environmental impact. We buy our Bordeaux, Provence, Rhone and Champagne directly from the vineyards.
